Diversity & Inclusion
GW President Steven Knapp launched several initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion within and beyond the university community. The results of these initiatives include the creation of the position of Vice Provost for Diversity & Inclusion and the Office of Diversity & Inclusion.
The Vice Provost provides leadership on all aspects of educational and employment equity, access, cultural understanding and competency, and human rights.
Caroline Laguerre-Brown, JD, is the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement, working with senior leadership, administrators, faculty, staff and students to advance the university’s commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive community. Laguerre-Brown's responsibilities include providing leadership to the Office of Diversity & Inclusion which consists of centers and offices that cultivate and leverage the benefits of diversity within the GW community and the Washington metropolitan area.
The Office has expanded in recent years to include the Multicultural Student Services Center, Office of Disability Support Services, Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service, Title IX Coordination, Campus Inclusion Initiatives, and the GW Tutoring Initiative.
Rory Muhammad is the Title IX coordinator, overseeing a range of policies, procedures and programs at GW to help prevent sexual assault, support survivors and investigate incidents of compliance.
