As provost of George Washington University, Dr. Steven Lerman is the chief academic officer and oversees all programs and offices associated with student life and learning at the university.  In support of his commitment to integrate career services to enhance and expand upon the academic experience at GW, Provost Lerman endorsed the Career Services Task Force recommendations to create a university-wide Career Services Advisory Council.  The Council includes representatives from all GW career centers and alumni relations as well as student leaders and faculty members.

In November 2011, Provost Lerman charged the Council to be more proactive and expansive in the way career services are approached at the university.  The Provost called on the Council to develop career services that are more “fluid” and “flexible” in which students early on are guided to reflect on their goals and strengths, and then learn to transition this insight and knowledge into a structured and intentional path to potential job and career opportunities.

The Council is currently working on university-wide projects to implement enhanced services for all stakeholders, including identification of new databases, directories, and technologies that will be available to all students and career services staff.
